People often assume I came to mediation from a legal background.
I didn't.
For more than 20 years, I worked as a Head of Production in television. My job wasn't just about budgets, schedules and logistics—it was about people. I worked with hundreds of freelancers, executives, creatives and production teams, helping people with different personalities, priorities and perspectives work together under pressure. Difficult conversations, competing interests and conflict weren't the exception; they were simply part of everyday life.
What I discovered was that I genuinely enjoyed those conversations.
I found that when people feel listened to, respected and given the space to speak honestly, they often begin to see each other differently. The conversation changes. Solutions become possible.
That experience led me to train as an accredited mediator.
Mediation appealed to me because it isn't about deciding who's right or wrong. It's about helping people have the conversations they haven't been able to have on their own. My role isn't to judge or advise; it's to guide the process, ask thoughtful questions and create an environment where people can move beyond positions and focus on what really matters.
I've also completed training in psychologically informed mediation, which has strengthened my understanding of how emotions, communication and behaviour influence conflict. Every dispute is different, and every person arrives with their own experiences, concerns and motivations. Taking the time to understand those differences is often the key to finding a lasting resolution.
Today, through Unscripted Resolution, I help people navigate workplace, commercial and civil disputes with professionalism, impartiality and empathy.
Conflict is a normal part of life.
It doesn't have to define what happens next.
